2D and 3D
What a thermal orthomosaic misses.
A thermal orthomosaic is a map of what faces up. For a roof it is a fair record. For the rest of the building it is not a record at all. An illustrative orthomosaic beside the 3D record of an example building:
Common approach
2D thermal orthomosaic
Sees only what faces up. Walls and doors are missing, and roof vents flatten into the roof, so their readings mix with the roof around them.
Our 3D record
Radiometric thermal data in 3D
Roofs, walls, doors and junctions in one record, each temperature at the position where it was measured. The side-door reading shown does not exist in the orthomosaic.
- 01Walls and doorsNot in a top-down map. The side-door reading in the 3D record does not exist in the orthomosaic.
- 02Vents and penetrationsFlatten into the roof, so their readings mix with the roof around them.
- 03JunctionsWhere the roof meets the wall, the orthomosaic shows one side only.
Our 3D record
What the 3D record keeps.
The same radiometric thermal photos, processed into one record of the building instead of a map of its roof.
- 01PositionEach temperature at the position where it was measured: on the roof, the wall, the door or the junction between them.
- 02EvidenceEvery point carries its capture time, its source frame and source pixel, how many frames it was seen in, and how much the reading varied between them.
- 03ReviewClick any point in the web viewer for its evidence. Colour and filter the record by any field. Step through the areas that read warmer or colder than their surroundings.
- 04ExportsDXF and E57/LAS for findings, GeoJSON for point and asset classes, and the raw LAZ point cloud with its coordinate system embedded.
What it is not
What the record does not do.
The record supports professional judgement, it does not replace it. Thermal observations alone do not establish a diagnosis.
The processing runs end to end, from radiometric captures to the 3D record in the viewer, and has been run on captures flown by other operators.
Try it free
Try it on a project first.
Send up to 500 radiometric thermal photos from one project, or book a flight. We check whether the capture is suitable. If it is, you receive the full 3D thermal record in your coordinate system, free.
